SHAFT HEIGHT
To adjust the height, hold two adjacent shaft sections one in each hand.
To unlock: grip then twist your right hand towards you, then extend or
compress the tubes to suit. Do not extend passed the STOP
mark on any section, except to dismantle the shaft. To lock: grip the shaft (not the plastic collar); twist your right hand away from you steadily and firmly (not fast and abruptly) until tight.
Set bottom shaft at the 'A' mark to keep the pole lightest
at this end for an easier pendular action. When adjusting the upper sections
use the EVA sleeve for a firmer grip. Before use, ensure that each
shaft section is locked securely (check again when in use particularly if there is a temperature drop).
PERSONALISING SHAFT HEIGHT
Adjust the pole so its top is about 2 cm above your elbow (this is the standard height). Walk on the flat for about 15 minutes to familiarise yourself with the new arm action (refer to the Basic Guide over leaf). Then experiment with a series of 1cm height adjustments - and note the effect on the arm’s thrust/leverage as the elbow straightens-out behind, and on general ease of arm actions. Feel the difference, and decide on the final height after about 15 minutes of trying alternatives. This is your personalised shaft height which relates to body proportions and general stride length. Keep both poles at the same height. After a few weeks of use, repeat this exercise to confirm your optimum shaft height.
